Beryl Williams Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Beryl Williams (nee Forsey), in the Palliative Care Unit of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. She was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, England and trained in Birmingham as a registered nurse and midwife.
She moved to Canada in 1963 and worked at the Montreal General hospital, and married Geoff, her surviving husband of 57 years, whilst they lived in Montreal. In 1964 they moved to Deep River, Ontario, where Beryl worked in the Deep River Hospital, finishing her career working in the Emergency Department. Beryl was a keen walker, cross country skier, and bridge player. Her three children were born in Deep River. She and Geoff moved from Deep River to French Creek in 2004 and made many good friends thanks, initially, to their memberships in the Parksville and Qualicum Beach Newcomers clubs. She enjoyed gardening and was noted for the raspberry jam that she made and distributed to friends and neighbours. In Oceanside, Beryl continued her bridge and played with two ladies groups. She and Geoff really enjoyed the local theatre scene, and they both went out every Friday with a walking group.
She was the loving mother of Peter Williams and his wife Su Chang, Rachel Williams and her husband Steve Miller, and Christopher Williams and his partner Maria Lazareva. She was the cherished grandmother of Fiona and Jamie Miller and Bryce and Alyssa Williams. She is also survived by her brother Alan Forsey and his wife Ann. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Forsey.
Respecting Beryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation.
