Abe died peacefully in Parksville, BC, with his youngest daughter Candace, and Erna - his loving wife of 68 years - by his side.
The eighth of 16 children born to Jacob and Anna Loewen of Crowfoot, AB – Abe was the first child in Canada following immigration from the Ukraine.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Erna, children Ted, Yvonne and Candace, sisters Lena, Anne, and Sue and brothers Jake and George. Pre-deceased by siblings Peter, John, Mary, Liz, Agnes and five children who died in Ukraine.
A schoolteacher (B. Ed, and M. Ed) with Industrial Arts qualifications and a Motor Mechanic journeyman, Abe was highly skilled in working with his hands. He could fix anything! He enjoyed wood and metal work, and music--he sang Bass, played the mandolin, harmonica, and violin. An artist on many levels.
Abe was a man of few but profound words, with a big and sincere faith in God, always loving and generous.
After a fall and breaking his leg, Abe spent three years in long term care coping with mental health and physical issues, Erna faithfully by his side until his Homegoing. The Family extends many thanks to the team at Stanford Seniors Village who provided care and support for Abe's very complex illness.
