It is with great sadness that we announce Bill's sudden, unexpected passing in Nanaimo Regional Hospital. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Marie Hoverman, and his elder daughter, Megan. He is survived by Margaret, his wife of 56 years, his younger daughter Gillian (Peter Petris), and his two beloved grandsons, Ryden and Luka Petris. Bill had a lifelong interest in designing and creating. While he was still in high school he built a piano. It took him a whole year, but the piano was subsequently purchased by the school board. Bill maintained contact with many friends from his school years in Kelowna and always tried to attend the annual summer reunions. The 50th reunion was especially important to him. Bill spent his entire teaching career in North Vancouver. While working full time he also managed to design and build the family home. After he and Margaret moved to the Island, Bill was proud to serve as a support member and later a director of the Fire Department when the Meadowood Fire Station was opened. He did his best to serve the community where he lived in his retirement years. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Bill will be greatly missed by family and friends.
