Born to James and Eva Preston (nee Hudson) in Leicester, UK

Resident of Coombs for fifteen years, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2017 surrounded by her family after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia at Qualicum Manor in Qualicum Beach.

She leaves her eternal love to her beloved husband of 63 years, Malcolm (Kim) Brown and loving memories to their six children – Candy, Chris, Michele, Melanie, Tim and Louise; their twelve grandchildren – Damian, Rory, Ben, Gisella, Sapphire, Jordan, Jesse, Jade, Nick, Meaghan, Sade and Shane; and two great grandchildren – Isabelle and Oliver.

Jill was a wonderful, loving wife, an amazing mother and the ‘best ever’ Nana. Her role as wife, mother and grandmother, was the most important thing to Mum. She was a very talented artist, loved to laugh and to be surrounded by friends and family around a table of beautiful food she had prepared. Her life meant such a lot to so many people all around the world and her smile will be impossible to forget. Most importantly, it was the ways she touched all our lives will remain forever.

“Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blew,

I am the diamond glints on the snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.”

By Mary Elizabeth Frye

A celebration of her life will take place when all six of her children are able to arrive from all over the world. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Qualicum Manor who made Mum feel so comfortable and cared for.

Please, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. https://www.lbda.org/donate
